Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is a public university with which comprises of one main campus, 13 autonomous state campuses and 21 satellite campuses. With 18,188 of academic and non-academic staff, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) offered 518 programmes ranging from foundation to postgraduate level. Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is home to 165,028 students: bumiputeras and international students, in full-time and part-time mode. The main campus, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam located in Shah Alam, the state capital of Selangor, approximately 28 kilometres west of Kuala lumpur, Malaysia.

Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) began as RIDA (Rural & Industrial Development Authority) Training Centre (Malay: Dewan Latehan RIDA), inspired by Onn Jaafar, the founder and former president of United Malays National Organisation (UMNO).

Since that time, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) went through several pivotal and historical moments and grown into the largest higher education institution in Malaysia by physical infrastructure, staff·organization (academic and non-academic) and student enrollment.

Establishment of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) aim to enhance the knowledge and expertise of Bumiputeras in all fields of study through professional programmes, research work and community service based on moral values and professional ethics.
Faculty of Chemical Engineering
The Faculty of Chemical Engineering UiTM Shah Alam was established in June 2003. It started as a department under the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering when the programme of Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Chemical was first introduced in June 2000. Currently, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering UiTM Shah Alam comprise of 1,600 people of highly capable students, lecturer and staff.
Since the establishment, the faculty aim to impart knowledge to students by offering comprehensive engineering programmes in chemical and its associated fields through effective teaching and training in line with global technological advancement.
In parallel with the country’s move towards a more industrialized nation especially in the chemical sub-sector, the faculty with its outstanding list of lecturers and excellent laboratory facilities, aims to be a leading institution in producing semi-professional and professional, innovative and ethical chemical engineers
